On January 13, 2012, Judge Corriero participated in a panel discussion following a screening of “Young Kids, Hard Time” hosted by MSNBC and Calamari Productions. The film follows the personal stories of youths incarcerated in Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, Indiana–the only adult prison in the state of Indiana that houses kids sentenced as adults.

The panel discussion included Gladys Carrion, Commissioner of the Office of Children and Family Services; Vincent Schiraldi, Commissioner of the New York City Probation Department; Mike Dempsey, Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Correction Division for Youth Services; and Miriam Aroni Krinsky, Lecturer at the UCLA school of Public Policy and the Executive Director for the LA County Citizens’ Jail Commission.

During the discussion, Judge Corriero expressed hope that policymakers in New York will view the film and react to it by promoting a judicial system that treats children as children. He thanked Karen Grau, the Producer of the Film for her commitment to sharing the stories of youth in our justice system.
