NYCJJ Kicks Off The Application Period For The Juvenile Justice Academy

Posted: January 22nd, 2013 | by Yuval Sheer

We are delighted to announce that we are now accepting applications for the third annual Juvenile Justice Academy.

Each summer, the Center hosts the Juvenile Justice Academy, comprised of students from myriad disciplines such as law schools, social work schools, art schools and related fields.

Participants in NYCJJ’s Juvenile Justice Academy learn about the legal parameters and ramifications of New York’s juvenile justice system, and conduct policy and legal research centered upon New York’s practice of trying youth as adults. The students utilize their academic and creative talents, and engage stakeholders and community residents to improve current policy. Additionally, our associates attend lectures and seminars featuring leading juvenile justice practitioners.

During these programs, the students have an opportunity to actively contribute to the ongoing dialogue between judges, attorneys, advocates, and therapeutic service providers.

Applications for the Juvenile Justice Academy must be submitted by May 1, 2013 and can be downloaded here.
